Pslm 109-Dealing with Adversaries

Truth for Truckers” *May 19, 2014* Psalm 109 “Dealing with Adversaries

This Psalm is divided into three sections as the following outline details:
  I. Requesting God’s Intervention w/Adversaries (v.1-5)
  A.   Hold not Thy peace, O God of my praise (v.1)
  B.   For the mouth of the wicked…are opened against me…with a lying tongue (v.2)
  C.   They compassed me about also w/words of hatred and fought against me w/o a cause (v.3)
  D.   For my love they are my ADVERSARIES: but I give myself unto prayer (c.4)
  E.   And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love (v.5)
II. Requesting God’s Judgment of Adversaries (v.6-20)
A.     The Devil’s Dirty Dozen Requested (v.6-15)
B.     The Reasons for Request (v.16)
C.     As he has sown let him reap (v.17-20)
III. Requesting God’s Blessing/Help Over Adversaries (v.21-31)
A.     David’s Condition (v.22-25)
B.     David’s Cry (v.26)
C.     David’s Cause (v.27)
D.     David’s Commitment (v.28-31)

As we evaluate this brief outline it is obvious that David fully relied upon God when dealing with his adversaries. And so it should be with us, Drivers. The Devil is our major Adversary not the person/people: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”(Ephesians 6:12).

Therefore, it is imperative that we: “Put on the whole armor of God”(Ephesians 6:10) in order to get the victory for behind every assault by the wicked the Devil is lurking and is the author of the lies, the cursing, the slander that is thrown at the Believer. Therefore, we must deal with him by the power of the Spirit, for it is not the person, they are merely the Devil’s tool. The whole armor of God in essence is putting on “The Lord Jesus Christ and make not provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof” (Romans 13:14).

‘He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us.”(Ephesians 3:20). So, brethren, we are the Lord’s battlefield and in order to be victorious we must allow Him to use us as we put Him on daily for we enter into warfare daily!
