“Truth for Truckers” *May 21, 2014* Psalm 111 “Praising
God for His Works”
This Psalm opens and closes with powerful
statements of praise to the LORD focusing upon His great works through the
ages. Notice the continued emphasis upon His WORKS:
#1
The WORKS of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure
therein. (v.2)
#2
His WORK is honorable and glorious and His righteousness endures forever. (v.3)
#3
He has made His wonderful WORKS to be remembered: the LORD is great and full of
compassion. (v.4)
#4
He has given meat [food] unto them that fear Him: (v.5a)
#5
He will be ever mindful of His Covenant. (v.5b)
#6
He has shown His people the power of His WORKS, that He may give them the
heritage of the heathen. (v.6)
#7
The WORKS of His hands are verity and judgment; all His Commandments are sure. They
stand fast for ever. (v.7, 8)
#8
He sent redemption unto His people: He has commanded His Covenant forever.
(v.9)
This list of God’s WORKS supplies the
Believer with real reasons to praise the Lord for His great WORKS all of which
have impact upon our lives as we speak. The Psalm closes with one of the most
powerful statements in the Word of God followed by the fact that His praise is eternal: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of
wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do His commandments: His praise
endures forever.” (v.10). So,
Drivers, once again we are commanded to praise the LORD!
