“Truth for Truckers” *June 9, 2014* Psalm 129 “Plea
of the Persecuted”
The story of Israel and the Israelites
themselves is one of fierce affliction from the peoples of the earth. From the
holocaust of WWII to the present day
anti-Semitism is found in almost every corner of the planet to varying degrees.
The Jews, the earthly people of God are a people who are unjustly persecuted by
their fellow man. And, the persecution of Christians is also on the rise in every country especially in Communist countries and Islamic controlled nations.
Not a day goes by but the world news
records an act of unmerciful persecution against the Jews as (v.1-3) records in
the days of early Israel: “Many a time
have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say; Many a time have they
afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me. The plowers
plowed upon my back; they made long their furrows.”
Their physical suffering is clearly
displayed but the endurance of the nation also is declared for the persecutors
will not prevail against the nation of Israel. As we close in on the Second
Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ Israel appears to be stronger as each day goes
by even though they as a whole are still in unbelief, the day is coming when
their Redeemer comes to Zion and Israel will be saved according to Isaiah 59:20
and Romans 11:25, 26. And so all Israel shall be saved!
