Psalm 105-Praising God for His Sovereignty in Circumstances

Truth for Truckers” *May 15, 2014* Psalm 105 “Praising God for His Sovereignty in Circumstances

This (45) verse Psalm handily illustrates how the Lord has control over all that occurs in His universe. The Psalm is first of all a Psalm of powerful praise as His history of blessing His people is reviewed:

  I. Praising Him is Commanded (v.1-6)
     A. Ten Present Imperatives
     B.  Giving thanks, Singing, Making known His deeds, Seeking Him etc.
     C.  Remembering His Works, His Wonders and His Words (v.5)

II. Promises to the Patriarchs (v.7-11)

III. Protection of the Patriarchs (v.12-15)

IV. Provision for Patriarchs (v.16-24)

 V. Plan for His People [400 Years] (v.25-45)
     A. Negative Miracles of Judgment (v.25-36)
     B.  Positive Miracles of Mercy (v.37-45)

While this is a very lengthy Psalm, this outline will help as we read and digest the Lord’s application for us here in the 21st century. First of all, the commands apply to every generation. We must be a praising, thankful, singing people who make melody in our heart to the Lord (Colossians 3:16, 17). Seeking the Lord’s face in prayer is another relevant command to us, Drivers. And the list goes on as we review the ten commands all of which apply to each of us.
