Psalm 84-The Lord will give grace and glory

Truth for Truckers” *April 24, 2014* Psalm 84  “The Lord will give grace and glory

This Psalm exalts God’s house of worship and in (v.11) the Lord’s three gifts are listed for those who enter into His courts: “For the LORD God is a sun and shield, the LORD will give grace and glory, no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.” God’s three gifts are:  1. Grace
                                                                                                                      2. Glory
                                                                                                                      3. Good things
It is His grace that is the fountainhead of all blessings we receive. Without His grace we would never be saved: “For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God not of works lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8, 9) And, it is the salvation which the Lord Jesus Christ by His Blood bought for every man for “He is the propitiation for our sins and not for ours only but for the sins of the whole world.” (I John 2:2) So, God’s wonderful grace is the doorway to all of the other blessings. It is by His grace that He gives us a share of His glory, a glory that we can experience in His presence as we seek His face and enter His Kingdom.

The last gift is all the good things we have in life. My wife and I spent Resurrection Day with some of our family. Six of our eight grand-children were there. We had a great meal together and good fellowship. Every one of our children and grand-children are saved. Therefore, we have every reason to rejoice in the Lord and give Him the glory for what He has done by His grace. He has given us so many blessings because we remain faithful to Him regardless of circumstances, His promises remain true:
“For all things work together for good to them who love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

Psalm 83-Keep not Thou silence, O God

Truth for Truckers” *April 23, 2014* Psalm 83  “Keep not Thou silence, O God

Asaph pleads with God with three opening requests: “Keep not Thou silence, O God: hold not Thy peace, and be not still, O God.” (v.1) These pleas are given because the enemies of the nation of Israel were actively planning to attack saying: “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent; they are confederate against Thee.” (v.4, 5)

These words are familiar threats to the existence of Israel and those who are making these threats are also very familiar here in the 21st century because the names and games are the same as they were when the Psalmist looked back well over 3,200 years ago during the time when Judges ruled the nation of Israel for the victory of Deborah and Barak and Gideon, three Judges are referred to in (v.9-12)

Ten enemy nations are mentioned (v.6-8) and those same ten are still in existence today doing exactly what they were doing when this Psalm was written, wanting and trying to eliminate the earthly people of God, the nation of Israel. Today, these nations are all Islamic, and their Koran says in essence: Convert or Die!” Within these ten nations there is one from which the Antichrist will rise in the not too distant future.

That nation is called “Asshur” (v.8) or Assyria which is today located in northern Syria or eastern Turkey. As the time of the end unfolds we must keep our prophetic eye fixed upon the Scriptures, Israel, and these ten nations which surround her as we trust in God and expect Him to “Keep not silence, O God” for He will protect His people from those who would attempt to eliminate their existence!

Psalm 82-Arise O God, judge the earth

Truth for Truckers” *April 22, 2014* Psalm 82  “Arise O God, judge the earth

The last verse in this Psalm is an end-times prophecy of things to come. Asaph, who wrote this song or Psalm gives God two commands: “Arise, O God, judge the earth: for Thou shall inherit all nations.”(v.8) As the world situation is surveyed, most Bible prophecy watchers are saying that we are indeed very close to the time when the Lord will intervene and come to bring about His wrath-filled Day of the Lord judgment upon the planet (Revelation 8-19) which is the most prophesied time in the Scripture!

However, there are numerous things left to be fulfilled before the Lord comes again to judge the earth. The following events will occur before the Lord’s Second Coming and “The same day” (Luke 17:22-37) Day of the Lord judgment begins:
 1.  The Sending of Elijah (Malachi 4:5, 6; Matthew 17:11)
 2.  The Revival of Hearts (Malachi 4:5, 6)
 3.  The Restoration of All Things (Daniel 11:28-32; Matthew 17:11; Mark 9:12; Acts 3:20, 21)
       a. The Jews will be in the land (Deuteronomy 30:5; Daniel 9:24; Matthew 24:16)
       b. They will control Jerusalem (Daniel 9:24)
       c. The third temple will be built (Daniel 11:31; I Thessalonians 2:1-4; Revelation 11:1, 2)
       d. The holy place included (Matthew 24:15)
       e. The regular/morning and evening sacrifices will be instituted (Daniel 8:11, 12, 9:27, 11:31, 12:11)
       f. The Sabbath will be honored (Matthew 24:20)
       g. The two witnesses/prophets will be sent to God’s people (Revelation 11:3-17)
       h. The twelve tribes of Israel will be recognized, organized and sealed (Revelation 7:3-8)
  4.  The Awareness of the Believer (Matthew 24:32, 33; I Thessalonians 5:1-10)
  5.  The Six Seals Opened (Revelation 6)
  6.  The Falling Away (Daniel 11:30; II Thessalonians 2:1-3)
  7.  The Man of Sin Revealed (Daniel 11:31; Matthew 24:15; II Thessalonians 2:1-10)
  8.  The Abomination of Desolation (Daniel 9:27, 11:31; Matthew 24:15; II Thessalonians 2:3, 4)
  9.  The Great Tribulation (Daniel 11:31-12:1, 2, 10; Matthew 24:15-28; Revelation 13:1-18)
 10. The Heavenly Wonders (Joel 2:31; Isaiah 13:10; Matthew 24:29; Mark 13:24, 25; Luke 21:25, 26;
