Psalm 131-A Childlike Faith

“Truth for Truckers” *June 11, 2014* Psalm 131 “A Childlike Faith”

     David pledges his heart’s absence of prideful actions. He also affirms that he is not involved “In things too high for me” and gives the illustration of being like a young child “That is weaned of his mother” which also focuses upon the lack of a pride in his position as king which could give him an attitude of being somebody he is not. The Scripture shows that there are at least seven devastating effects of pride:

1. Condemnation of the devil (I Timothy 3:6) 
2. Brings Shame (Proverbs 11:2)
3. Causes Contention (Proverbs 13:10) 
4. Destruction (Proverbs 16:18) 
5. Deception (Jeremiah 49:16) 
6. Hardening of the mind (Daniel 5:20) 
7. Resistance by God (James 4:6) 

       Pride is said to be one of the Seven Deadly Sins and was the cause of the fall of Satan. Some Bible teachers say that Eve’s original sin can be traced to a proud heart. So, Drivers, pride definitely is at the top of the list of sins that the Believer can fall into very easily, and if this list of seven is reviewed before the Lord, we surely don’t want to be guilty!
