Psalm 141-Set a watch O LORD before my mouth

Truth for Truckers” *June 21, 2014* Psalm 141 “Set a watch O LORD before my mouth

“Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips” (v.3) David makes a wise request to his LORD for as James tells us: “Even so, the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindles. And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and it is set on fire of hell.” (James 3:5, 6)

Asking the LORD for help to control the tongue is definitely a wise move on David’s part for the tongue is un-controllable unless the LORD by His Holy Spirit is in charge of our tongue, our lips and our mouths. This prayer of David, Drivers, is one we should memorize and make a part of our daily prayer time before the LORD for every one of us has trouble with our tongues at some time or another!
